Chelsea Literary Stroll
This bohemian enclave of South-West London has been the home of musicians, artists and writers since the nineteenth century and became part of swinging London in the 1960s and the centre of the “punk” new wave of the 1970s.
An engaging and informative walk which starts in Sloane Square and moves westwards uncovering the homes of the writers who lived here, and telling stories of their triumphs, disasters, scandals despair and disappointments. We will discover some lesser known streets and squares whilst always remaining within a few hundred metres of the King’s Road.
On this walk you will meet feisty war correspondents, writers of gothic fantasy, a grieving literary giant and the creator of a very famous bear.
The Chelsea Literary Stroll is ideal for anyone with an interest in literature and the lives of the authors who created it.
